Rice and History of Science

Dagmar Schäfer, executive director and head of department III, edited (together with Francesca Bray, Peter Coclanis and Edda Fields-Black) a book about rice. The edited volume is titled »Rice. Global Networks and New Histories« and is published in 2015 by Cambridge University Press.
In this interview Dagmar Schäfer explains, why rice is not only one of the most important crops in the world, but also an excellent object to study a material culture in a global perspective.
